About the Journal

Focus and Scope

The Revista Sítio Novo is a publication of the Federal Institute of Education, Science, and Technology of Tocantins - IFTO. The journal is multidisciplinary.

The journal aims to disseminate and publicize the results of studies and scientific research developed at IFTO, as well as research conducted by national and international authors or groups.

The journal publishes original works that address relevant topics in various areas of knowledge, preferably those pertinent to the scientific and technological development of the country.

Scientific publications are issued quarterly, starting in 2020, and consist of an editorial and scientific papers, which are accepted in the following formats:

• Scientific Article – material based on an original and yet unresolved scientific hypothesis, which is validated or not through experimentation or theoretical models, grounded in the well-established scientific method, with appropriate statistical planning and discussion supported by scientific argumentation.

• Technical Note – material that describes a technique, an apparatus, a new species, or observations and data collections limited to non-repeatable experiments or other unique situations. It is generally shorter than a scientific article, does not need to follow the classical structure, but must comply with the same scientific rigor as a Scientific Article and holds the same value as a publication.

The submission of works is ongoing and can only be submitted online through the journal's portal.

Articles in Portuguese, English, and Spanish will be accepted with the purpose of disseminating research conducted by national and international authors or groups.

The journal has a multidisciplinary nature and, depending on the demand for works, may publish thematic issues, with the theme(s) being disclosed in advance.

Peer Review Process

The material submitted for publication is initially reviewed by the Editorial Board of Revista Sítio Novo, with the assistance of the Editor-in-Chief and the Assistant Editor, regarding the adequacy of the texts to the publication standards and other procedures relevant to the analysis and approval process of the works, according to the author guidelines provided in the available templates. If deemed appropriate, the material is forwarded to specialized reviewers in the field, with no author identification, who form the Scientific Editorial Committee, composed of peer reviewers with a Ph.D. or recognized expertise in the specific area.

The members of the Scientific Editorial Committee are appointed by the Editorial Board of Revista Sítio Novo.

In exceptional cases where the Scientific Editorial Committee does not meet the deadline set by the Editorial Board, ad hoc reviewers with at least a master's degree may be invited to analyze articles and technical notes submitted to the journal.

The Editorial Board will ensure that the reviewers of each article are, preferably, from institutions distinct from the authors' institutions.

Works submitted by authors for publication in Revista Sítio Novo will be forwarded by the Editorial Board to the reviewers within a maximum of 60 days from receipt.

Reviewers will have a maximum of 21 days to evaluate the work. After this period, the Editorial Board members are free to replace the reviewer.

Based on the reviews of at least two reviewers and its own analysis, the Editorial Board recommends accepting or rejecting the material.

Rejected works will be returned to the authors. Requests for reconsideration of unfavorable reviews or requests for evaluation by other reviewers will not be accepted.

Publication Frequency

Revista Sítio Novo has an online submission system, which can be accessed through login and password registration.

This journal offers immediate open access to its content, following the principle that making scientific knowledge freely available to the public provides greater global democratization of knowledge.
