Child Violence: An Analysis of the National Common Curricular Base on an Emerging Topic

This article highlights the need for the National Common Curricular Base to address such an urgent theme in today's society, which is child violence. The gap in the National Common Curricular Base regarding the prevention of child violence is mentioned, emphasizing the need for an educational approach that incorporates guidelines for the comprehensive protection of children, as established by the Child and Adolescent Statute and other relevant legislation. The revision and complementation of the Base are seen as essential to align the educational curriculum with the principles of protecting children's rights and promoting education that empowers individuals as agents of social change. Therefore, the objective of this article is to understand the approach of the National Common Curricular Base as a curricular instrument for the protection and prevention of violence against children in early childhood. Using a qualitative approach, a documentary research was carried out based on official and legal documents. The discussion about violence should be integrated into a broader educational context that addresses citizenship, ethics, and respect, contributing to the integral formation of children and the construction of a safe and welcoming school environment. This approach, aligned with the guidelines of the Child and Adolescent Statute and other legislation, would significantly contribute to promoting an education that prepares children to face and overcome social challenges, including violence prevention.Downloads
