Adolescence is a phase marked by significant changes that directly influence physical, psychological, functional, and social aspects. This study aimed to evaluate the oral health-related quality of life of adolescents from a public school in Palmas, Tocantins, Brazil, and to compare it with the students’ socioeconomic vulnerability. The Oral Health Impact Profile-14 (OHIP-14) was used as a research instrument to assess the impact of oral health problems on the individual's life. It consists of 14 items covering seven dimensions: functional limitation, physical pain, psychological discomfort, physical disability, psychological disability, social disability, and handicap. The questionnaire was administered to 284 high school students aged 14 to 19 from the Federal Institute of Tocantins – Palmas Campus. For analysis purposes, students were divided into two groups: those who receive support from the National Student Assistance Program (PNAES) and those who do not. Variables included impact prevalence and socioeconomic condition. The form was completed anonymously in digital format. Results showed that the “Physical pain” and “Psychological discomfort” dimensions were the most affected by oral and/or joint problems in both groups. The total OHIP-14 score ranges from 0 to 56, with a mean of 9.1 for the PNAES group and 7.9 for the non-PNAES group. It was concluded that oral health-related quality of life was not associated with the students’ socioeconomic vulnerability, and both groups of adolescents showed a low impact of oral health on quality of life.Downloads
